pics :: Hair Cut

I don't know if you guys remember, but I posted some pics of my roommate's cats on here, and there was one huge, REALLY fluffy cat, JR. He weights 16 lb. My roommate decided to give him a hair cut and a bath the other day, and here is what came out of it.

P.S.
She has done it before to the poor thing.

Here are some before and after shots.

Here is another one after. Poor cat has become so shy, that all he does is hides from people so that they do not see him :(

txt :: Space is cool !!!

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Today (or at least I think it is today) is 15 year anniversary of Hubble Telescope.

Happy B-day scopie !!!

To celebrate it I found a really nice looking picture taken by Hubble of some very distant and unknown (at least to me) galaxy.

music :: System of a Down (The Armenian Way)

Intro:

Some bands might be good, some might be bad, but this one is definitely one of the best ever. To call it unique is to say nothing about the maturity of their style, complexity and intellectual quality of their lyrics. There are much more so read on.

Style:

Hard rock would be the closest style category, but their music is always so different that I don't dare dumping them in just one category. There are songs that are pure metal, slower rock and others which are so insane that they require a different style of itself. They are not afraid to say what has happened and what is happening (Armenian genocide is one example).

Link:

One last word:

Their new album called Hypnotize can definitely stand by the ultimate classics of theirs like "Chop Suey" and "Toxicity".

txt :: Admin news - Update

Ok we recently put up a post about losing the mailing list. Today it seems like we finally got it back. I'm not sure what exactly went wrong, because nothing seemed to be wrong. I actually wrote to the Google staff about our problem, and perhaps that's what resolved it. I would imagine that a lot of people actually use this way of mailing lists, so they probably received many emails about the problem. Anyways it seems to update the our Nikak Google Group with the last post that Denis put, so I think we're back in business!Hooray for Google!

It's very hard to express love towards one of the most important things in your life without knowing how. By getting this little attribute for your little ringing friend you can really show all those feelings hidden deep within you!

txt :: Admin news

We have bad news. It appears that we lost our mailing list. Something got changed in the permissions by Google and now the method we used to forward the stuff doesn't work. We're looking for a solution and will try to get this thing back up ASAP! For now I guess it's back to the "remembering how many comments there were last time you checked" method... lol how I hate that method! gr!

For those of you who like using KDE on Linux Operating Systems - you have to check this out. It's a drop down terminal that is always running! If you've played quake or other games that use the command line terminal, it's kinda like that. You just hit ~(tildae) I think and the terminal drops down/goes back up. They also have skins etc. I haven't tried it yet, so if anyone tries it before me - let me know how it goes!

Denis playing

Very intellectual face :)

I decided to hug him and take a pic while he is playing.
  1. I don't think he even noticed that I was hugging him, lol.
  2. His roommate made a comment that in this pic I look like I am hugging an autistic child lol.
Denis is very smart in reality, he is just very concentrated, in his own world kind of thing ;)

txt :: That 360 Review that Goga Has Been Promising!

Yeah, I finally pulled it all together and decided to post my first post. Gog, I figured we'd never actually get to writing collaboratively, (is that a word?), so here it goes:

Graphics, Graphics, Graphics.

If I had to use only one word to differentiate the 360 from its predecessor, this would be it. (Although to be honest I’ve never actually played the original XBOX I am pretty sure this is true)

Gog, I think you would agree with me that the first thing that went through our head when we popped that FIFA: Road to World Cup into the disc slot was: WOW, these graphics are awesome. Although, I have to say that this is probably still the dominating thought that goes through our head when we play it (that and the fact that we can finally play with Armenia against France). Mik, Zidane couldn’t look more real if he was sitting in front of us. Not to say that the game is bad, it’s AWESOME, but I don’t think that it is drastically different from say FIFA 2006 for the PC or Gamecube, except in the graphics department, which is a considerable difference, if you ask me.

Ok, back to the console itself. There are a bunch of nice features like being able to look at pictures stored on the computer on the same network as the 360, downloading high def movie trailers and demos from XBOX Live (free for the first month!!!), streaming media from pc (but it has to be a special Windows Media PC or something like that). However, at the end it all comes down to the games, and right now there aren’t that many good games for the 360. Actually there aren’t that many games for it, period. The ones we played are: FIFA – AWESOME, NFS: Most Wanted – OK, nothing special, Perfect Dark Zero – returned it the next day. Finally, we should be getting Call of Duty 2 this weekend, which should be great. As a final thought, I think 360 is going to really pick up once more games are released that show off its power, not just the graphical aspect of it. Gog feel free to add more, also we’ll try to post screenshots.

So here I am with the flag of my motherland. I've been meaning to get it forever but never did. And one rainy day I came home and saw a box at my door. In that box was a huge flag that I wanted for soooo long !!!

The flag was a present from a mystery man (can't tell who it's from, if you want to reveal yourself the comments are all yours) ;)

P.S. To tell that I love this thing is to tell nothing, finally I can go to parades and protest meetings!

txt :: Enabling Cyrillic in Windows programs...

Ok, I finally found it!!!

I was looking for ever on how to enable Russian fonts in the programs (not just typing in the language). And finally I found a way. So here we go:
  1. Start -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced
  2. Look for Language for non-Unicode programs. Choose Russian and click OK.
  3. Reboot when prompted to do so.
Here's the result:

(Before all Russian was jibberish in this playlist)

P.S. Now you can even save files with russian filenames!

link :: Use search to its full potential!

Way back in the day when I just started using Google and it's search I was a kid that only knew how to type query in the search bar and pray for the right result (and that search engine read my mind and understood what I meant).

Now it's all changed. Now I use special operators all the time because they really help with speeding up the search process (My ultimate favorite is [define:]).

Now bla showed me another one [music:] which is very useful if you're searching for an artist information, lyrics and etc.

There are many other search operators that I use on the regular basis but I'm not going to list them all here. Instead I recommend you follow this link to Google help page that has a list of all of them with short explanation.

It's like learning shortcuts for programs that you use most often: Once you try you don't understand how you have been living without them!

txt :: VPN made simple (very simple [beyond simple (...)])

So we've all (I guess not all but some) heard of this scary word: VPN. Let me first explain what it does.

VPN allows you to be on the same secure (LAN) network with any computer around the world. But the problem is that for average user it's hard to configure. :(

Well... This little app needs no configuration. Just install and start using :)

Let me just describe possibilities:
- Join in with friends and listen to their iTunes shares wherever they are
- Secure FTP
- Access internet through one of your other computers (Em you'll like this for your torrents, I'll post a tutorial once I'm done setting it up for me)
- Secure file sharing that no one can trace
- Play games on LAN with people no matter where they are
- And many more... Sky is the limit... :)

The program is easy to setup and easy to use (Right now I'm listening to bla's iTunes music share while he is.... I don't even know where he is [for sure not in same building]).

Introducing Hamachi!

Try it once and you wont be able to live without it :)
