txt :: 4 best movies that make you feel

I like when movies has an effect on me that's why I don't watch chick-flicks (sorry girls). Apart from very serious movies like American Beauty, American History X and etc, these movies are the best ones that I've seen so far.

They make you think and evaluate every aspect of your life. Sometines you laugh or cry, wonder or dream while watching them but with no exceptions they will all make you think about why we're here and what really is important in life.

  • Lost in Translation -- Beauty and simplicity (IMBD: 7.9)
  • Garden State -- Love and life (IMBD: 8.0)
  • Love Actually -- Love and passion (IMBD: 7.8)
  • Amelie -- Love and destiny (IMBD: 8.7)
True love is very important in life and is not something that you can lose or find. It finds you and all you need to do is recognise and accept it. True love always aids you in staying on your path and following it (Alchemist, Paulo Coelho).

You need to add "Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind" to that list as well I think. Great movie! I love garden state. It's such a great movie. I haven't seen the other 3 so I'll check them out.

I haven't seen Serendipity. Downloading...

I would recommend Memento, that's another good one, even though it's a little dark.

I'm not sure Memento fits into these categories, but it is a great movie. Me, my roommate and some friends watched 2 Van Damme movies last night and we have like 10 more to go! It's a Jean Claud Van Damme marathon here at my place (:

All the movies on the list are great. I have never seen Amelie though. Serendipity is a a great movie, more on the romantic side though :) I really like it. Love actually was one of the best movies that I have ever seen

So is Serendiptity any good? I almost bought it for PSP last night. I love the movie post, but I will say that Memento rocks!, and Lost in Translation is okay but definitely artsy and slow at times. (plus the message isn't that great) You know which movie is one of the best!!?? and it is Russian of all things! It is called "The Return" (Vozvrasheniye) and it is really powerful. It won all tons of awards everywhere. It's at Blockbuster/Hollywood btw.

Amelie was really good. Nice picks! I loved Eternal Sunshine. bla, don't ever admit again to watching a Van Damme movie. :p

That is a good movie. Very sad though.

It's a very interesting take on that kind of situaion. Less Hollywood'y and more life like even though at some parts it was way too much even for me (I hated the dad character).

Lost in Translation might not have a deep or strong meaning but what I liked about it was the different kind of beauty that it presented. The actess wasn't hot (as it is in pretty much every other movie) but she was beautiful instead (something about the simplicity and openness of presentation). I really liked it.

There is two other Russian movies that I really recommed you to see:

- The Barber of Siberia (Sibirskiy tsiryulnik)
- East-West (Vostok Zapad)

Both directed by Nikita Mihalkov. They are very different from each other. The first one is during last tsar' (languages in the movie are french, english, russian and german [i think]). The second movie is right after Second World War about the people that came back from occupied territories (french and russian).

I was told "Vozvrashenie" is a good one! And it was actually from an american who doesn't speak any russian or anything like that! So it's on my "to watch" list! I haven't seen Serentipidy, I saw Serenity (: Different movies, but I loved Serenity!

Van Damme rocks!! Gog don't start me with the french stuff or I'll take that video we have of you singing Shanselize (however that's spelled) and post it here! You know what I'm talking about!

I hated the Dad character too, but that was kind of the point, right? The salvation of Dad?

I'm going to get those two russian films and check 'em out ASAP. Dod, you don't think I speak enough Russian to understand a movie, do you?

P.S. Van Damme sucks.
