Just want to say that it won't work with my cat. For one thing she's too proud. She'd rather starve. I've been trying to get her to hit my nose with her nose, but even that doesn't work. She doesn't even take food from my hand. She just sniffs it and then waits for me to put it down. Stubborn stubborn stubborn...

Yeah, cats are like that. It would be fun to teach your cat something like that, it will take a whole lot of effort though.

So I tried it with my cat last night when she was all out of food. She came looked at my paw, sniffed, looked at me with the look "you're going to fill up my bowl with that crap anyways" and just walked away...
